Job description
The Digital and Information Technology (DIT) Team has an exciting opportunity for a Risk Manager to join our close-knit and hard-working team.
The Risk Manager will support the Head of DIT and colleagues to identify and monitor risks to service delivery and respond to other issues that affect the Defence Business Services (DBS) Digital, Information and Technology Portfolio or DBS operational performance, reporting them to the DIT Strategy and Engagement Board.
The role supports the DBS Risk Manager in the implementation, communication and maintenance of the DBS Risk Strategy and the DBS Corporate Risk Register.
The Risk Manager is responsible for coordinating regularly reviews of the DIT Business Continuity Plans and preparing and taking part in business continuity exercises.
A key part of the role is to work collaboratively across DBS business areas and with Defence Digital colleagues to ensure that DBS�s dependencies on Defence Digital are monitored, reported and regularly discussed through a risk-based approach and escalated where appropriate.
Responsibilities
Risk Management
3. Identify risks and issues associated with the DBS Digital, Information and Technology (DIT) Portfolio or DBS operational performance on an initial and on-going basis.
4. Document and report the risks, issues and mitigations within the DIT Risk Register, this role leads on ensuring the Risk Register is effectively reviewed with the business owners, updated and published.
5. Escalate issues where appropriate to the DBS corporate level.
6. Present a risk update monthly at the DIT Strategy and Engagement Board.��
7. Support the DBS Risk Manager in their corporate capacity, including regular liaison.
8. Take the lead on piloting new risk management software.
Business Continuity
9. Oversee business continuity planning across the DBS DIT
10. Support the business to develop and review their business impact assessments (BIAs) and business continuity plans (BCPs)
11. Manage a central depository of DIT BIAs and BCPs
12. Provide assurance to the DBS Business Continuity Manager
13. Test the robustness of business continuity plans.
14. Prepare for and participate in DBS Business Continuity Scenario Workshops.
15. Maintain a register of DIT Priority Services.
Defence Digital Collaboration��
16. Work collaboratively across DBS business areas and with Defence Digital (DD) colleagues to ensure that DBS�s dependencies on DD are monitored, reported and regularly discussed through a risk-based approach.
17. Lead on maintaining, updating and presenting operational and project risks through the DD Dependencies Tracker.
18. Lead on the escalation of urgent issues that arise relating to DBS�s reliance on DD that impact on service delivery to DBS customers or project delivery.
19. Lead on the organisation of and provide secretariate support to Bi-Monthly DD Dependencies Tracker Review Meetings.
20. Jointly participate in monthly review dependencies meetings between DBS, DD and our Military HR delivery partner.
21. When required lead on the development of the Information Service Plan (ISP) agreement between DBS and DD.�����
Team Working
22. Establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
23. Work across organisational boundaries and encourage the application of best practice.
24. Working as part of the DIT Business Support Team you will be required to work as part of the team and take on additional work as and when required to support colleagues in the DIT Business Management Team or wider DIT Teams.
Representation
The Risk Manager will be required to attend and participate in regular meetings including:
25. Specified DBS governance and risk management meetings.
26. Regularly presenting at DBS DIT Strategy and Engagement Board Meetings
27. Providing secretariate support, organising and participating in Defence Digital Dependencies Review Meetings
28. Chairing monthly Risk Review Meetings with Grade 6 Team Leaders
29. Participating in Business Continuity Workshops
30. Occasional travel to other DBS or MOD sites may be required.
Person specification
Essential Experience
31. A strong communicator, both written and oral � including presentational skills
32. Competent utilising Office 365 and Microsoft Office software
33. Stakeholder engagement with a range of stakeholders both within and outside your immediate team.
34. Ability to balance the requirements of several stakeholders, their priorities and deadlines, with agility and diplomacy.
35. Self-motivation to plan, develop and deliver significant pieces of work with light touch management.

Qualifications
Qualifications in Management of Risk would be desirable, if required training will be provided to gain qualifications - Management of Risk (MoR) Foundation and Practitioner Levels.�
