Job Description:
Prospero Teaching are recruiting a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to provide specialist support in a Primary Pupil Referral Unit in Longsight, Manchester.
Main Duties
Support for pupils:
1. To work with groups of children under the supervision of the teacher.
2. Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
3. Give regular feedback on children's progress to the class teacher and file records.
4. Attend to children's personal needs, including pastoral, social, health, physical hygiene, minor first aid and welfare matters.
5. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
6. Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
7. Occasionally supervise whole classes as required.
Support for Teachers:
1. Liaise with other schools and bodies to gather information.
2. Planning and evaluating learning activities.
3. Provide support through Pastoral work and Mentoring.

Previous Experience / Requirements:
1. Experience of working with children/young people with SEND, behavioural difficulties, and those with communication, severe, profound or complex learning difficulties where appropriate.
2. NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience.
3. Ability to use relevant technology, e.g., photocopier.
4. Full working knowledge and understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategic processes and barriers to learning, including behaviour management strategies.
5. Full understanding of the range of support services/providers.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
1. Hold Right to Work in the UK.
2. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
3. Provide two professional child-related references.
A teaching assistant Level 2 may be called upon to provide cover supervision for a group or occasionally for a whole class for a session/lesson; this may involve the teaching assistant contributing to the planning, preparation, assessment and reporting.
