HR Business Partner
Full Time/ Permanent
£37,506 - £42,210 – Depending on experience & qualifications
Based at our St. Albans Campus with some travel to our Welwyn Garden City Campus.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a HR Business Partner to provide an expert advisory service on people management issues.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our forward-thinking team. In this position, you will undertake employee relations case work in terms of discipline, grievance, redundancy, redeployment, absence and other HR matters. You will also be responsible for giving advice and guidance to management staff on HR related issues and leading on the implementation of people management aspects of organisational change, taking responsibility for programmes such as restructures and TUPE.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills with the ability to organise workload efficiently and be able to multi-task. They also need to have an awareness of cultural differences and be able to work with autonomy and on their own initiative. You should be proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively. Previous experience of change management is essential, along with a commitment to providing a high-quality customer experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide a HR consultancy service to the college, giving advice and guidance on HR related issues to management and staff, in compliance with current legislation and college policies and procedures.
2. Attend curriculum and departmental meetings with key managers to understand current and potential issues. Provide proactive solutions to people related problems and ensure individual action plans are in place and adhered to.
3. Support ongoing organisational change by developing capability plans, working with Directors of Faculty to identify competency gaps, linking internal development offers to support employee career development.
4. Undertake employee relations case work in terms of discipline, grievance, redundancy, redeployment, absence and other HR matters in accordance with employment legislation, college policy and procedures and best practice.
5. Instigate and carry out investigations where appropriate.
6. Liaise with recognised trade unions on employee relations matters; including coordinating documentation for union meetings and ensuring implementation of agreed action plans.
7. Lead on the implementation of people management aspects of organisational change, taking responsibility for implementing a change plan for programmes such as restructures, TUPE transfers etc.
8. Participate in the development and delivery of training courses to enhance management skills, for example, conducting disciplinary and grievance investigations, managing absence, addressing performance issues etc.
9. Provide feedback to the HR Manager and Executive Director of People and Culture, highlighting any issues or trends to inform the HR Strategy and support the delivery of a proactive Human Resources service.
10. Contribute to the development of new or revised policies, procedures and guidance in line with employment law and best practice, to meet the needs of the college.
11. Actively develop through staff development and training activities, keeping up to date with current legislation.
CRITERIA:
1. CIPD Level 5 is a minimum.
2. HR Degree is desirable.
3. Previous experience in a HR Business Partner role.
4. Previous experience of managing complex casework.
5. Project Management experience (leading projects).
6. Experience of Change Management/Restructuring.
