The function of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer is to provide expert support, knowledge and engineering skill to deliver all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering, right in the very centre of our development and production environment. Reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, in this role you will get involved in a range of activities including but not limited too; Develop and manage the Bill of Materials in line with the latest release of eBoM to ensure all parts of an aircraft or key assembly are identified and managed through the product lifecycle. Interpret engineering drawings to create/amend work instructions and be able to identify the processes, tooling and equipment to maintain delivery and quality standards. Lead the process of New Product Introduction to support the introduction of new products or modification programmes into production. Manage the response to production Non-Conformance (NC) in a product or process and be able to identify and gather the appropriate engineering data and deliver the containment, root cause analysis and corrective actions in a timely and appropriate manner. Play a key role in the Change Management process and subsequently plan, develop and execute the introduction of engineering change. Early identification for new equipment and submitting CAPEX requests. Responsibility for creating production plans and shop layouts for new projects / new requirements. Leads continuous improvement activities. Responsibilities Expert understanding of configuration management and execution of all production controls. Expert at creation and validation of work instructions including the use in CAD, PLM and ERP platforms to support that activity. Creating specifications for new tooling and equipment Selection, analysis (via PFMEA) and control of appropriate manufacturing processes for all physical parts in a new assembly Validation of changes to Bill of Materials and execution of extraction of mBom from eBom to match changes. Implementation of comprehensive manufacturing plans for rate build including creating work instructions for all manufactured parts, sub-assemblies and assembly. Providing and verifying standard timings for sub-assembly and aircraft build to provide build flow analysis and line balancing. Devise technical specifications and support external suppliers to define delivery standards (condition of supply) of sub-contracted items. Manage NCs and work with other functions to resolve arising technical issues. Lead Continuous Improvement activities. Support Daily Stand-Up meetings and all programme deliverable administration. Support the full Quality Assurance activities to enable the company to maintain continued compliance with ISO9001:2015. Perform other duties when required Health & Safety Be a focal for good HSE standards and engagement within Production. When required or directed, participate in any HSE training. About You Qualifications Desirable: Engineering Degree or HNC/BTEC 5 and/or Aerospace Engineering Apprenticeship. Skills and competencies Essential Callen Lenz is primarily an aerospace design and production organisation and in-depth aerospace industry experience is therefore essential Strong manufacturing Engineering experience in an aerospace or high-performance vehicle environment. Expert understanding of configuration management and execution of all production execution activities: Bill of Materials (eBom to mBom) Creation of work instructions from design data in CAD, PLM and ERP platforms Creating specifications for new tooling and equipment. Exceptional workshop practises and hand skills. Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) via 4D, 5Y, 5W2H techniques. Expert in PFMEA and other risk management analysis Strong IT Skills, specifically in MS Office Apps. Quality Minded Attention to detail Continuous Improvement Champion Desirable A combination of MRO and OEM experience is useful. Experience of supporting R&D, prototyping, new product introduction or other time-restricted development activity. Experience in un-crewed or remote-controlled vehicles is an advantage. Hands on skills are an advantage – either in the assembly of prototype/small batch electro-mechanical devices or working with composite materials for example. Identifying, developing and implementing solutions to support changes in manufacturing efficiency or quality. Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
