To have lead responsibility for the operational management, implementation, and maintenance of voice and data communication networks within the Trust ensuring the provision of continuous and acceptable service to all end users. To line manage the Network support staff. This will include dealing with standard line management issues such as performance management (including dealing with issues of poor performance), appraisal reporting, personal development, sickness and disciplinary issues where appropriate. To manage the cabling requirements within the Trust and provide long term resilient infrastructures capable of supporting the joint needs for data and Telecommunications. This requires close liaison with the Trusts Building Services and Facilities. Manage and resolve incidents assigned to the Network and Telecoms Team in accordance with the Incident Management process. These incidents, which are by definition highly complex and will require specialist knowledge to resolve. This may require analysis and interpretation of data and/or statistical reports, to determine the root cause and provide adequate steps to resolve the problem. May also be required to manage and resolve some 1st line incidents To be fully conversant with the Client/Server Infrastructure and system management utilities used in the Trust, performing advanced support and troubleshooting. Together with the Network Manager contribute to the production of policies and procedures covering security and integrity of the Trusts communication systems and networks to protect against unauthorised access or loss of revenue through system fraud. This includes the development and management of infrastructure and sensitive patient and staff information systems and the provision and maintenance of firewall protected sub-networks and highly bespoke systems on high security sites. The post holder will work with the Service Desk Manager to obtain feedback on performance from the User base. All feedback will be acted upon to raise service levels and manage user expectations. The post holder may be asked to supervise the work of colleagues and NHS cadets\work experience students, etc. Provides training from own or other disciplines on own subject area.
