Job summary
Endoscopy Nurse to support the unit manager and Doctors to promote a high standard of care and to promote a safe and caring environment.
To support a clinical environment that is patient and public focused.
To assist in developing an environment which supports the value of patient care within endoscopy services within the Gastroenterology Directorate.
The post will support a 24 hour on call service within ABUHB.
Main duties of the job
To assess, evaluate and implement care to patients within the Endoscopy Theatre.
To prepare and assemble theatre equipment.
To pre -assess inpatients, vetting and co-ordinating referrals. To pre -assess and ring all outpatients to assess medication and bowel preparation.
To assist and co-ordinate the daily running of lists. To liaise with schedulers regarding patient bookings and work towards minimisingcancellations and errors.
To assist the endoscopist in all aspects of endoscopic procedures on and off the department assisting with monitoring patients observations,assisting with therapeutic endoscopy such as assisting with biopsies under instruction from the endoscopist and assisting the consultant whenperforming EMR polypectomy.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
