Senior Surveyor
Location: Falmouth
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a person who will assess the design, production, and in-service aspects of engineering assets, using procedures, experience, and knowledge appropriate for complex and demanding situations. The role may also include managing projects.
The role:
As a Senior Surveyor you will:
* Conduct relevant activities, undertake project management, and provide advice for service delivery within your area of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements.
* Produce deliverables to the agreed schedule, budget, and quality levels within an appropriate format and take responsibility to review and monitor other employees’ work as requested.
* Discuss and present deliverables with internal and external clients and suggest solutions as necessary.
* Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
* Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
* Assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client and assist in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structure.
* Mentor and coach other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
* Contribute to external client management, ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately.
* Ensure the appropriate authorisations are gained and kept up to date; this may involve Activity Monitoring.
You are someone who:
Eliminates or minimises employee exposure to risks by regularly reviewing the health and safety risk register, applying appropriate controls, communicating results of risk assessment, and ensuring health and safety is considered in the planning and execution of all LR activities.
Manages your own and your team's compliance with health and safety rules, instructions, systems, and legal requirements, ensuring employees are suitably trained and adequate resources are available to work safely.
Monitors and reviews health and safety performance, observes safety behaviours in the workplace, takes appropriate corrective and preventative action as necessary, and suggests and implements improvement activities.
What you bring:
* A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
* Membership of an appropriate professional institution (I. Eng or equivalent).
* Working towards or achieving chartered or incorporated engineering status.
* Ability to work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.
* Ability to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimise the application of existing and emerging technology.
* Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems.
* Ability to provide technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned.
* Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
