Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment in Bath, working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with complex needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who want to help children achieve their full potential and make a positive impact on their educational journey.
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing tailored support to students with a range of complex needs, both in and outside of the classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to deliver personalised learning strategies that support the children's individual learning styles, ensuring they can access the curriculum in a way that suits them best.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with complex needs.
* Assist in the implementation of personalised learning plans.
* Promote inclusion and engagement for all students.
* Support children with daily routines, personal care, and mobility if necessary.
* Foster a safe, nurturing environment for children to thrive in.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals involved in the child’s development.
* Help manage behavioural challenges using positive behaviour management strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with complex needs.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with vulnerable children.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
* A commitment to professional development and a desire to learn new strategies to support students.
* A relevant qualification in education or SEN (such as a TA qualification, NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential.
