Business Development Director
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Director to spearhead growth initiatives in acquiring new clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries for our environmental monitoring systems. This role also involves driving Field Service sales by collaborating with Field Service partners and the CMS Sales Team to promote installations, calibrations, and other critical service offerings. The ideal candidate will excel in building relationships, managing sales cycles, and developing strategic approaches to enhance revenue and market share. This is a hybrid work schedule in our Burlington, MA office with travel expectations up to 50% annually.
What will I be doing in this role?
1. Strategic Planning and Market Analysis:
o Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company sales targets and expand our client base in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
o Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential clients, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
o Create targeted strategies to grow Field Service sales, including installations, calibrations, and other services, in collaboration with the Field Service partners and CMS Sales Team.
2. Client Acquisition:
o Identify, target, and secure new clients within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries requiring environmental monitoring systems.
o Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within target organizations.
3. Field Service Sales Enablement:
o Collaborate with Field Service partners and the CMS Sales Team to identify and promote Field Service opportunities.
o Provide guidance and support to drive the adoption of service offerings among new and existing clients.
o Assist in aligning Field Service solutions with client needs and ensuring seamless delivery of services.
4. Networking and Relationship Building:
o Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote our products and services while establishing key industry connections.
o Develop long-term client relationships to ensure satisfaction, repeat business, and opportunities for expanded service offerings.
5. Proposal and Presentation Development:
o Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations to prospective clients.
o Collaborate with marketing to create impactful sales materials, case studies, and promotional content that highlights both environmental monitoring systems and Field Service capabilities.
6. Collaboration and Team Leadership:
o Work closely with the product development, marketing, Field Service, and customer service teams to align on business development goals and activities.
o Partner with the Key Account team and inside sales team to execute client needs and provide comprehensive solutions.
7. Performance Tracking and Reporting:
o Monitor and report on sales metrics, pipeline status, and business development activities, including Field Service sales performance.
o Analyze and assess the effectiveness of business development and Field Service sales strategies, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
2. Experience:
o Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or environmental monitoring industries.
o Proven success in acquiring and managing high-value clients, achieving sales targets, and driving service-based sales growth.
3. Skills:
o Strong knowledge of environmental monitoring systems, Field Service offerings, and their applications in pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
o Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
o Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional, collaborative team.
o Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
