Participation and Learning Manager (Mat Leave Cover)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Day to day operational responsibility for the high-quality delivery of Participation and Learning programmes: planning and scheduling, developing and delivering high quality content, managing Creative Producers and external contractor/s where appropriate and working collaboratively across the Lakeland Arts (LA) team.
2. Programme and deliver exciting participation opportunities that engage participants, artists, partners and audiences in ways that are inspired by and relevant for our local communities, our collections and locations.
3. Operational responsibility for managing the P&L Team and ensuring the team delivers against the new Lakeland Arts Strategy.
4. Working with teams across Lakeland Arts to support the delivery of one of the key strategic objectives ‘Reaching Wider’. Broadening and increasing our audiences through the creation of meaningful experiences across our sites, engaging people and developing audiences.
5. Working with the Lakeland Arts team to support delivery of Arts Council England’s (ACE) Investment Programme 23-26 objectives and outputs.
6. Working with the Creative Producers to create, develop and deliver distinctive Participation and Learning programmes from idea generation, through to project development and delivery.
7. Work collaboratively with the Curatorial Team to develop a public programme that reflects and makes accessible, the richness of Lakeland Arts’ collections, architecture, and surrounding landscape.
8. Manage learning budgets effectively in line with Lakeland Arts’ financial and reporting processes.
9. Responsible for the evaluation of the P&L programme and managing of P&L data and statistics to support Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation and other reporting.
10. Maintain an active and informed interest in developments in education and learning in the sector. This includes virtual learning and web-based provision, public policy initiatives etc., and ensure that this knowledge is implemented and shared where appropriate.
11. Lead on Lakeland Arts’ Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy and those relating to P&L. Regularly monitor and review policy updates and developments and ensure that Lakeland Arts is adopting best practice.
12. Contribute to funding applications, including project funding and capital bids.
13. Produce reports and information accurately and in a timely manner and as required by Lakeland Arts, Cumbria Museums Consortium, Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund, other funders, and partners.
14. Represent Lakeland Arts at stakeholder, partner and sector events.
General Accountabilities:
1. Contribute to Lakeland Arts’ strategic and business planning in addition to other strategies and plans.
2. Contribute to the overall success of the organisation, including attracting new audiences and delivering high quality visitor experience.
3. Support the development of Lakeland Arts’ staff members - carrying out regular reviews, appraisals and identifying training and development needs for staff managed by the post holder.

Additional Information:
This post is full time, working 37.5 hours per week. As a key member of staff, the post holder will be required to attend events, particularly those connected with responsibilities of the post including weekends and evenings. Candidates must demonstrate that they can fulfil the requirements of the post.
The annual leave entitlement for this post is 33 working days, made up of 20 statutory days, eight Public Bank Holidays and 5 contractual days per annum.
