South East Essex Academy Trust (SEEAT), a family of 9 schools, is seeking a dynamic, experienced Head of Estates to join our central team. This new role supports our growth, with the number of schools doubling in the last three years and further expansion anticipated.
As Head of Estates, you will ensure excellence in managing our estates and facilities, providing strategic leadership and operational management across our schools. Your goal will be to maintain safe, well-maintained facilities aligned with our vision for sustainable, high-quality learning environments. Whether you are an Estates or Facilities manager seeking the next step or an existing Head of Estates looking for a new challenge, this role offers an opportunity to develop and implement comprehensive Estates, Health & Safety, and Sustainability strategies for SEEAT.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and lead the Trust's Estates and Facilities strategy in line with the Good Estates Management for Schools (GEMS) framework.
2. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and health and safety requirements across the Trust.
3. Oversee capital projects, manage budgets, and deliver cost-effective maintenance solutions.
4. Manage relationships with external agencies, including contractors, consultants, and PFI partners, to ensure effective facilities management and value for money.
5. Support school-based estates teams to ensure consistency and quality in estate management.
6. Implement a Trust-wide Sustainability Plan.
Who We're Looking For:
* A team-player willing to get hands dirty (sometimes literally).
* Proven experience in estates/facilities management, ideally within a multi-site or educational setting.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing teams, projects, and external contracts.
* Expertise in Health and Safety, compliance, and statutory regulations.
* Ability to develop and manage budgets effectively to deliver value.
* Commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices.
You will be central to our team and a key contact for the SEEAT Executive team, Trustees, Chairs of Governors, Headteachers, and external stakeholders. Therefore, strong interpersonal skills and alignment with our ethos are essential. We offer flexible working in an engaging environment where no day is the same. For more details, please see our electronic recruitment pack.
The role is based at The Deanes, with travel expected across all SEEAT schools. A full UK driving license is preferred, but we can offer flexible hours and hybrid arrangements.
All applicants will have an informal chat before shortlisting. You are encouraged to visit our sites beforehand. For inquiries, contact Jade Blackburn, Director of People, at 07858 376941 or hr@seeat.org.
