Job Title: Mechanic
Location: Petersfield
Salary: £40,000 pa
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Working hours: 40 hours per week, to be worked Monday – Friday 8am - 5pm with 1hr unpaid break each day.
COOMBES UK is a leading Arboricultural and Forestry Contractor, with well over a decade of experience and expertise in the forestry sector. We are seeking skilled and experienced colleagues in a range of disciplines to support our growth and help us provide a service that is second to none.
The Role:
COOMBES requires a Mechanic on a full-time permanent basis to support the safe, efficient and effective operations of our Yard and Workshop. This varied role would suit experienced Mechanic who is keen to expand their knowledge and develop in their career. Typical duties include:
1. Routine service, maintenance and repairs of our fleet vehicles
2. Conducting vehicle/plant services and inspections, repairing/replacing damaged/worn parts
3. Attend breakdowns across south-central England, diagnosing and repairing faults
4. Maintain the inventory of equipment and machinery
5. Receive and book-in deliveries of equipment/tools
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, hold qualification/s in mechanics and have a full driving licence. Experience of working with hydraulics, auto electrics or of plant maintenance would be advantageous, but COOMBES is committed to providing training and professional development to colleagues who reflect the ethos and values of our Company.
Applicants must be confident working with various tools, have a strong work ethic and a good working knowledge of health and safety practices. You will take pride in your work, complete tasks to a high standard and be a self-motivated team member who can work both independently and as part of a team. Building good working relationships with clients and colleagues, you will have a methodical approach to solving problems and have excellent attention to detail. To succeed in this role, you will need to proactively keep up to date with changing technology, follow procedures and ensure all paper and digital records are completed accurately, within set timeframes.
This role can be physically demanding and some tasks will be at heights. You will be required to work outside from time to time, so you must be happy to work in all that the British weather has to offer!
The Candidate:
NVQ Level 3 diploma in light vehicle repair or equivalent
Recent experience of working in a similar mechanic role
IT literate with experience of digital data entry
Good diagnostic and fault-finding ability
Full UK driving licence.
