About the role
Do you want to work on the front line of electricity, controlling our Transmission System from our state-of-the-art control centre? This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team responsible for the real-time operation of the National Electricity Transmission System managing everything from routine maintenance to storms and wildfires across all of England and Wales.
Playing a pivotal role in ensuring that the network is managed effectively, and alarms received into the TNCC are dealt with, applying the appropriate engineering response. Full training is provided, and you will need to achieve the correct response authorisation level before being assigned responsibilities in the TNCC.
This role is based in Warwick and requires you to work on a 2-shift rota pattern of either 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm (and currently 1 weekend in 4) published well in advance to allow for work-life balance.
What you'll need
You'll have the ability to work in a process orientated environment ensuring we carry out our role with a fierce focus on safety. You'll have good logical, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and be organised.
A team player, with the ability to motivate, encourage and work with other control room personnel, joining a team of around 70 staff and managers.
You'll ideally have a power systems background or experience of working in a control room environment or other relevant operations or engineering experience. You'll also understand how asset and network monitoring systems create indications and alarms.
