Reporting to the Head of Engineering Services and based at Knowsley, the Mechanical Engineering Support Manager will be responsible for the Mechanical management of Depot/Network Operational based work co-ordination of all faults, breakdowns, upgrades statuary testing and inspections. Mechanical Engineering Manager will be responsible for all the mechanical elements of projects and teams. Working closely with the Head of Operations Engineering and the Technical Engineering co-ordinator they will provide a first-class service to our network infrastructure with a focus on HSEQ and minimising down time on affected sites.
The role will provide technical support on the mechanical side of the business to ensure compliance against agreed KPI’s and assist in the management of contractors With a “Safety first” approach you will where applicable liaise with the Installation & electrical teams at ES to ensure a cohesive customer service. The role will ensure an effective management and scheduling the mechanical team efficiently, with a shared responsibility for the welding/fabrication team based at Knowsley.
Key responsibilities of the role will include but not restricted too;
• Working closely with the Head of Operations Engineering and team to Scope out Capital delivery projects
• Providing guidance and technical assistance to the Installation Teams, Project Managers and other parts of the business
• Organising and effectively scheduling mechanical labour for the network/Flo gas depots with the focus on minimising down time on affected sites.
• Working closely with the Technical Engineering co-ordinator, managing the network faults/breakdowns, additional resource requirements and remedial works.
• Along with the Head of Operations Engineering effectively plan annual/10yr & other periodic inspections on Flogas depots, and where appropriate issuing work to external contractors efficiently.
• Having a close interaction with the design & Project management team
• Providing suitable and sufficient RAMS for standardised Jobs
• Provide technical assistance to Flogas network/Depots (Mechanically)
• Auditing external contractors and developing relationships with them regionally to provide a nationwide service to the operational side of the business.
Ideal Candidate;
• GCSE Maths & English
• LPG Been previously an LPG engineer and/or experienced in Large vessel and High pressure installations, and/or discipline in process plant, fuels, chemical industry.
• H&S Have a good sound knowledge of H&S within the workplace with a minimum of IOSH managing safely with NEBOSH General certificate being preferable, with experience of this demonstrated within an engineering or manufacturing discipline.
• Vessel entry, testing and inspection knowledge, familiar or worked within the LPG codes of practice would be preferable.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to achieve results through diverse cross-functional teams.
• Persuasive and personable communication skills with all levels of the organization
• Self-motivated and good organizational skills to be enable planning, execution, and implementation in a timely manner in a highly autonomous role.
• High level of IT competency and experience of Microsoft packages including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
• Experience of working in a multi-project environment
