Claims Manager (MGA, ideally ACII or in progress Cert or DIP) required for a leading global insurance and reinsurance company based in Gibraltar. Our client has an established claims team that oversee claim handling operations, large loss reporting and management as part of their strategy. This strategy is focused on their significant UK motor insurance book.
The Claims Manager will have the opportunity to manage an extensive portfolio and be a referral point for large motor losses. In addition, the role includes the opportunity to undertake external client facing work, build relationships, analyse account performance, participate in client visits, and work closely with our clients. A legal background would be ideal coupled with a University education. The ideal candidate will have in excess of 15 to 20 years’ experience and be a seasoned expert in this specialist field of large losses.

What You Will Be Doing
Review large loss claim referrals and liaise with the relevant team on reserving and tactics
Review and monitor the claims operations and analyse how these operations affect claims performance
Liaise with brokers and reinsurers in respect of large loss claim queries, anomalies, and general large loss lifecycle management
Participate in claim operation audits (some travel is required with this role), conducting onsite & remote meetings.
Produce written analysis of findings for presentation to internal stakeholders including underwriting and actuarial functions
Undertake analysis of performance using a mix of data review and technical file audits
Regular interaction with underwriters, pricing and reserving actuaries to present claims trends, account performance and updates on claims initiatives
Attendance at market review meetings and participation in market forums, promoting the best interests of the business
Attendance at settlement meetings, JSM’s, legal conferences and mediations, where appropriate
Ensure compliance with SOX and risk control frameworks
Other ad hoc duties as required
What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role
A minimum of 15 to 20 years’ experience in an insurance or reinsurance claims team handling relevant lines of business
Must be confident, with a desire to meet new people and undertake external facing work including client audits, review meetings, monthly account management analysis etc
Commercial judgement required to progress technical/complex reinsurance claims/disputes
Ability to analyse coverage under insurance and reinsurance contracts
Strong organizational and mathematical skills
Ability to provide clear written reports and analysis of losses and account performance
Proven ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels and in all areas of the organization, as well as with clients and other external stakeholders
A strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
A relevant legal or insurance qualification (or progress towards) such as Cert CII, DIP CII, ACII, Qualified Solicitor or ILEX is an advantage
