Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday (1-hour lunch break)

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Financial Controller to join our team based in Wolverhampton. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and confident in managing all aspects of finance operations. The role is suited to individuals with a solid background in finance, ideally with prior experience using Xero software.
Key Responsibilities:
* Sales Ledger Management: Overseeing the sales ledger, which includes issuing sales invoices, posting them on Xero, managing credit control, resolving customer queries and disputes, and issuing credit notes as necessary. You will also liaise with the legal team when required.
* Purchase Ledger Management: Processing and reviewing supplier invoices, ensuring they match purchase orders, managing payments, and dealing with supplier queries or discrepancies.
* Bank Reconciliations: Reconciling bank transactions in Xero, ensuring timely payments and receipts, and managing outgoing payments.
* Payroll Coordination: Preparing payroll information for the outsourced payroll provider, reviewing employee expenses, and handling payroll-related queries from staff.
* Month-End Closing: Managing the month-end process, including reconciling balance sheet items, preparing management journals, and producing draft management accounts. You will also attend management meetings to represent the finance department.
* Tax Compliance: Ensuring that tax filings and payments with HMRC are completed accurately and on time.
* Credit Risk Management: Monitoring the credit ratings of key customers and suppliers to mitigate financial risk.
* Director Support: Liaising with and reporting financial information directly to the Directors.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Professional qualifications such as AAT, CIMA, ACCA, or ICAEW are preferred. Candidates with qualified experience will also be considered.
* Previous experience in a Financial Controller role is essential.
* Experience using Xero software is advantageous, though not mandatory.
* Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team.
