Student Support Assistants – Specialist School for children with complex medical needs –Kent Location – ASAP start – Long Term Role
MUST BE A CAR DRIVER AS NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO THE SCHOOL.
Our client is a Foundation Special School for children aged 4 - 19 with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated learning difficulties. They are part of the Kent SEN Trust, a cooperative trust of ten schools working together to improve outcomes for all the children and young people attending the schools.
The school works proactively with parents and external professionals to provide holistic support for every child and young person. It is also developing high quality outreach support services for local schools and more widely for children and young people in Kent who have physical disabilities who are attending mainstream schools.
The school always places children and young people at the centre of all decisions it takes, and it has a relentless focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for every student.
Our client is searching for Student Support Assistants to work Monday to Thursday 12:30-21:30 long term. You will be responsible for enabling the student’s learning, promoting their independence and helping them achieve. You will need to be a confident advocate, recognising the potential of the individual and championing their needs along with possessing exceptional communication skills and patience.
To be considered for this role we require the below as a minimum:
- must be a car driver as the location is remote and not accessible via public transport
- in date practical moving and handling certificate ( we can provide at as cost if needed)
- Experience with personal care
- Previous experience working with SEN students
- Level 3 diploma in Residential Childcare desirable
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- experience with autism
