Job Summary:
The cafe Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in the driving of our brand's high energy and overall operations and performance of a coffee shop. They provide strategic leadership, manage the staff, ensure customer satisfaction, and drive profitability. This position requires strong leadership skills, exceptional organization abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality food, drink, and service.
This role involves creating a high energy and positive work environment, maintaining high-quality standards, developing effective operational processes, and ensuring the delivery of our company values through yourself and the whole team.
Available to work key shifts and events as needed: This position requires working on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays to meet business demands or project deadlines. Working weekends, when required, is an essential part of this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
o To be an ambassador for the company's brand values.
o Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of coffee shop staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
o Foster a positive work culture and maintain effective communication with the team.
2. Operational Management:
o Assist in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning of the coffee shop.
o Be responsible for the preparation and presentation of food and beverages to meet quality standards.
o Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency.
o Assist in managing inventory, ordering, and stock control to meet customer demand.
o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitary practices, and food handling standards.
o Manage cash register, safe, and transactions accurately, including opening and closing procedures.
3. Customer Service:
o Foster and create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for customers, ensuring their satisfaction.
o Ensure exceptional customer service is provided by all staff members.
o Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional manner.
4. Quality Control:
o Maintain the highest standards for food and drink while ensuring company specs are followed by all staff members.
o Conduct regular quality checks to identify and address any issues promptly.
5. Administrative Tasks:
o Assist in administrative duties, such as scheduling, payroll, and reporting.
o Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and employee performance.
6. Sales and Marketing:
o Assist alongside your line manager to develop and execute strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
o Monitor sales performance and set targets to maximize revenue, identify trends, and suggest improvements to your line manager.
o Collaborate with the marketing team to implement promotional campaigns and initiatives.
7. Financial Management:
o Monitor financial performance and implement cost control measures.
o Analyze financial reports and take appropriate actions to improve profitability.
8. Quality Assurance:
o Ensure the quality and consistency of coffee and other products served.
o Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the coffee shop.
o Conduct regular inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
9. Staff Management:
o Assist in scheduling and organizing shifts to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours if required by your line manager.
o Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to staff members.
Qualifications and Skills:
* At least 1 year of experience in hospitality management.
* Proven experience as an Assistant Manager or in a similar leadership role in the food and beverage industry.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Sound knowledge of hospitality operations, including barista skills and some food preparation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations.
* Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
* Familiar with POS systems, inventory management, and Microsoft Office Suite.
