Position: Outside Sales Representative
As an Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for developing new prospects and interacting with assigned customers to increase sales and margins of the company's products and/or services. Your primary focus will be face-to-face selling and account management activities to meet sales revenue goals by assessing customer needs and suggesting appropriate products, services, and solutions. Creativity and latitude are required, and you will engage with all levels of customer organizations, including technical, operations, supply chain, and executive management. You may be required to develop and deliver sales bids, presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations.
Responsibilities:
* Execute and expand assigned customer account plans developed in conjunction with management.
* Implement billing margin initiatives through value-added services, marketing programs, and supplier engagement.
* Prospect potential customers, including cold calling and developing leads through referral channels.
* Communicate with customers and leads to identify and understand their needs; suggest suitable products and services.
* Demonstrate product or service functions and utility based on customer needs.
* Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolve post-sale issues.
* Maintain communication with existing and previous customers about new products, services, and enhancements.
* Utilize sales management tools for planning and documenting opportunities.
* Develop product knowledge through training programs.
* Build strong relationships with suppliers, including joint sales calls.
* Provide quotations directly or with support from the sales team.
Qualifications:
* High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
* Two years of industry experience preferred.
* Ability to travel to clients and suppliers.
* Flexible schedule and occasional overnight travel.
* Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
* Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Teamwork ability.
* Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques (preferred).
* Ability to travel 50-75% of the time.
Working Environment:
Primarily outside sales; work is generally performed in an office but may require travel to customer sites or warehouses. Driving may be necessary, with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
