Die Maintenance Technician
Overview
Performs various duties related to maintenance and upkeep of tooling and related equipment. This will include the repair of industrial tooling and dies for perforating machines, analyzing operational problems related to tooling, correcting issues, and providing input and suggestions regarding maintenance issues.
1st shift - Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm but times are flexible. OT based on need to meet daily job requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform various duties relating to maintenance and upkeep of tooling and dies.
2. Operate necessary equipment including surface grinder and ID/OD grinder which you will be trained on if no prior experience.
3. Troubleshoot tooling issues in the production area and in the tool room, recommend and implement solutions to fix problems.
4. Involved in testing tooling for operation after repairs are made outside of normal routine maintenance.
5. Follow all company safety policies and procedures including the use of PPE and safety equipment.
6. Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
8. Grind all punches and inserts as tools are serviced.
9. Monitor usage and inventory levels of associated punches, inserts, insert shims, and die consumable components as required and report to supervisor for replenishing stock levels.
Qualifications:
Experience:
1. Minimum 2 years in a tool and die repair setting or show a strong mechanical aptitude and the willingness and ability to learn.
2. Basic working knowledge of various testing and quality instruments including gauges, calipers, go/no gauges, etc.
3. Work well in a team environment, have good written and verbal communication skills.
