Job Description
Operate and adjust all equipment from the end of the freeze tunnel through packaging, including shakers, belts, feeders, scaling equipment, packaging machines, blueprints, Dyna cops, Dyna pak, case settlers, gluers, and coders, to insure product is efficiently package according to product specifications.
Set up, start up, adjust, and maintain package machines paper/poly.
Set up, start up, adjust, and maintain Dyna cops, Dyna paks, and blueprint cases.
Monitor, adjust, and document bag/case weights.
Ensure bag lengths meet targets by monitoring and adjusting lengths. Advise lead/Team Lead if bag lengths cannot be obtained.
Set up, start up, adjust, and monitor bag coders and case coders.
Monitor and document frozen waste at assigned frequencies.
Regulate scales as necessary to achieve maximum packaging efficiency.
Validate proper paper/poly and cases are used per product specification.
Work to achieve minimum paper and case waste.
Operate tote dump to ensure maximum line efficiency is achieved.
Perform sanitation work as assigned by the lead/Team Lead to include; general cleaning and organization of the packaging area, scraping product feeders and product scaling equipment as necessary, and major cleanup activities.
Complete all necessary validations as assigned for the packaging operator position to include; pallet jack certification, forklift certification, scissor lift certification.
Actively practice and abide by all company work, safety and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
Actively be engaged in safety, participate in daily risk assessments, safety activities, and demonstrate ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
Report all incidents, near misses, and any safety concerns immediately to lead/Team Leader.
Actively participate in daily schedule control (DSC) meetings with your area team.
Help train new team members in the position of Package Operator.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
Experience is desired but not required.
Language Skills
Must be able to communicate well both in written and oral form.
Mathematical Skills
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using a calculator.
Computer Skills
Ability to use Microsoft Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Must know or have the ability to learn internal computer programs and operating systems.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for long periods.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
Work Environment
Indoors, may be warm or cold.
