The Role
A key leadership role reporting to the UK & Ireland Finance Director. Working as part of the finance leadership team to ensure that for UK & Ireland there is timely, accurate and compliant reporting in all areas both internally and externally. To proactively manage the company’s working capital, currency requirements, balance sheet, pensions, payroll accounting and all aspects of tax. Management of the external relationships with Banks, Inland Revenue and Auditors. Business Partnering with the Executive Leadership team.
The position is based in Runcorn, Cheshire. We operate an Agile Working Policy, so some home working is possible.
Main Accountabilities
Leadership
* A key leadership role, supporting the UK & Ireland Finance Director in ensuring that the wider finance functions have the necessary controls in place both in terms of processes and systems.
* Working as part of the Finance Leadership Team to determine finance strategy and identify areas of continuous improvement.
* Business Partnering with the Executive Leadership Team to support and advise them on the wider finance aspects of their functions.
* Responsible for managing the local relationship with global shared service centre.
* Active management, development, progression planning and motivation of the Financial Accounting team.
* Management of the group’s external financial relationships including banking, pension trustees, HMRC & auditors.
Controls & Compliance
* Ownership, reporting and management of the company’s’ balance sheet to ensure accuracy under IFRS and UK GAAP and in accordance with all company and Group deadlines.
* Ensure all relevant finance controls are in place across accounting and controlling.
* Control of the company’s taxation liabilities and ensuring compliance with all current legislation including corporate taxation, VAT including Intrastat reporting.
* Control and development of the company’s cash flow and associated reporting.
* Control of the monthly and year end reporting requirements to ensure accuracy whilst delivering on time.
* Oversee Companies House filings in accordance with requirements.
* Oversee the group’s capex management & reporting.
* Maintain and implement company’s pension strategy.
* Management of all internal and external financial audits.
* Development and improvement of the group’s working capital.
* Continued development of the company's accounting function, processes and procedures.
* Control, development and application of the company's expenditure policies.
* Responsible for ensuring all financial processes are documented and maintained.
Experience and Qualifications
* Individual should be a qualified accountant preferably from an ACA or ACCA background.
* Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
* Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of software applications and familiarisation with SAP R/3.
* Good commercial skills and awareness.
* Ability to work on own initiative and develop proactive solutions to business problems.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
