Job Description The Support Engineering function in Ultra provides effective support for the products developed. They are responsible for testing and providing technical troubleshooting during development, which includes creating product support plans to provide maintenance, obsolescence resolution and the continuation of manufacture and assembly. It is responsible for logistic predictions and customer support in the field. A professional at this grade possesses knowledge for specific fields and performs structured work assignments. Uses established procedures to solve problems by making judgments and gets work done with quality under moderate supervision. Has limited discretion to vary from established procedures. A Field Service Engineer is required to assume a customer facing role leading Trials, installation and support activities across a number of major UK and Foreign Military programs. Key responsibilities: Leading Ultra Maritime equipment activities, including; pre-installation surveys, equipment installations & removals and defect rectification work. Oversight and management of equipment fitting activities including close liaison/conflict management with staff and externally contracted companies. Conduct of System setting to work/commissioning. Presentation of equipment for Installation inspections, Harbour Acceptance, and Sea Acceptance trials Planning and execution of sea going and land based trials Carrying out an Annual Maintenance/Health checks Support defect investigation and rectification on Ultra Maritime equipment both in the UK and overseas. Producing engineering reports Decision Making Must possess solid decision making skills as often, decisions taken ‘on the ground’ may impact financially on the business. Communication & Contacts Providing detailed written technical reports for both internal and external customers. Providing technical advice to both internal and external customers Equipment S2170 – SSTD, S2150 – Hull Mounted Sonar, Multi Influence Underwater Systems, Electro Optical Surveillance Systems, Platform Data Management systems. Qualifications & Experience Technically educated to HNC/HND or higher in an Electronics, Electrical or Electro-mechanical Engineering discipline Installation/ commission experience of Naval systems. Experience of the formal acceptance of Naval systems and/or Naval systems experience/ background will be a distinct advantage. Fault diagnosis and rectification of Naval systems.
