Ward Manager - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Ward Manager to join our Neonatal Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, working in collaboration with the Unit Manager to lead and develop our neonatal services. Main duties of the job
* Assist with leading and co-ordinating the clinical, managerial and educational requirements of a defined clinical area, ensuring adequate systems are in place to support continuity over 24 hour/7 day period.
* Lead by example; maintain visibility and accessibility for staff, patients and visitors, including undertaking direct clinical care of patients.
* Provide nursing leadership within the unit team which empowers staff to deliver patient-centred, evidence-based nursing care within a defined budget.
* Maintain and monitor standards of care to ensure patient safety and quality of care and to resolve failures of standards of care in all areas of the patient environment.
* Participate in the line management of a team comprising registered practitioners, support workers and clerical staff.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse part 1, 7, or 10 of the NMC register.
* Degree or working towards a degree.
* Teaching/Mentorship Qualification.
* Experience of clinical leadership of a team.
* Supervisory Management Qualification.
* ENNP.
Experience
* Post registration experience in neonates.
* Teaching ability and experience.
* Ability to undertake complex drug and fluid calculations.
Additional Criteria
* Ability to use a wide range of computer programmes and the Intranet/Internet.
* Knowledge of relevant NHS legislation to include Clinical Governance, COSHH, Risk Management, Infection Control, Waste Management, Manual Handling, Confidentiality and Data Protection.
* Basic knowledge of absence and Performance monitoring.
* Current knowledge of evidence-based practice in neonatal nursing issues/national and regional service provision and managed clinical networks.
* In depth knowledge of Safeguarding Children policies.
* Understanding of the legal and ethical issues relating to babies and children.
* Able to undertake higher level specialist clinical skills.
* Basic knowledge of budgets.
* Ability to carry out skill mix reviews and operate e-roster.
* Experience in managing sickness and poor performance.
* Ability to communicate in an articulate manner with all people.

Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 a year. To work both day shifts and night shifts as rotation.
