is position is an exciting opportunity to be part of West Lothian Council’s Community Inclusion Team which is a community-based day service for adults with a Learning Disability that operates across West Lothian Communities. With an office base at Quigley House Craigshill, Livingston, that you will be required to access regularly.

In addition, the service also offers some individuals the opportunity to develop work or volunteer related skills in a woodwork workshop based inclusively within West Lothian Council’s building services at Kirkton Service Centre, which is where the main base for the post would be.
\n
As this position is within a woodwork workshop, desirably, applicants will hold a woodworking qualification or have a keen interest and able to demonstratable competence in woodwork related DIY skills and be willing to complete further training.

Applicants will be expected to be able to plan interactive sessions and tasks that meet individual outcomes and produce meaningful projects, while meeting Health and Safety requirements. The post also currently includes some collaborative work with local community groups that are practical based.

This post offers the successful applicant an opportunity to join the staff team on a permanent 36hour Monday to Friday basis with the aim of delivering a stimulating individual outcome focused service in line with West Lothian Council and Care Inspectorate guidance, Health & Safety policy & procedure, as well as Key National Strategies specific to working with people with a Learning Disability.

It will be essential for applicants to have had experience of working with Adults with a Learning Disability especially in care planning and hold a min of HNC Social Care & SVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.

You must be able to meet the essential criteria including holding a driver’s license.
\n
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
