About the Role
As an experienced Service Designer, you will work independently, providing mentorship and guidance to the team while assisting the Lead Service Designer in managing the Service Design function.
You will collaborate closely with Service Transition teams and key stakeholders to develop service design concepts and ensure their successful transition. You may also lead the design of complex services and contribute to setting the strategic direction of Service Design within the Pillar.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Service Design Lead to guide and manage the design work of the Service Design Team.
2. Mentor and provide direction to Service Designers, Junior Service Designers, and the Service Acceptance Analyst.
3. Oversee the line management responsibilities for the Service Design Team.
4. Help define the direction to ensure services are clear, simple, consistent, and deliver value to users.
5. Document design decisions, associated risks, and contribute to planning to ensure Service Design & Transition is integrated from the Demand phase.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Experience of designing Services to meet user needs and a good understanding of Service Design methods and practice.
2. Experience of using data and user feedback to design and improve Services.
3. Experience of turning designs into functioning Services and knowledge of other linked disciplines such as user research, user experience & interaction design.
4. Experience of mentoring and guiding colleagues.
5. Experience of working within an agile environment.
6. Knowledge and experience of ITIL 4.
7. Knowledge and experience of Agile.
8. Knowledge and experience of Prince and/or other Project Methodologies/frameworks.
9. A good understanding of IT hardware layers and typical deployment models.
10. Ability to prioritise, execute tasks, and make sound decisions in a busy pressured environment.
11. A high level of written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
1. Experience of designing Services to meet user needs within the Public Sector and/or within the Criminal Justice System.
2. Experience of managing and leading teams.
3. ITIL v4/ 3-4 Conversion certified.
4. Experience within a secure police or public sector environment, with security vetting at SC(En) and the understanding that you may have to undergo DV level.
