Assistant Site Manager Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Site Manager to join our team at Fawkes & Reece, a busy housing contractor. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to take on a challenging role in managing the construction of new homes.
Salary: Competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and a company car.
Job Description
As an Assistant Site Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the Site Manager in overseeing the development project, ensuring timely completion, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness. Your duties will include:
* Ensuring site personnel comply with Health & Safety regulations
* Inducting new starters in the Site Manager's absence
* Securing the site, maintaining safe working conditions, and providing safety facilities
* Participating in pre-site start meetings, studying drawings, and inspecting the site setup
* Creating short-term working programs to manage production
* Liaising with consultant engineers for inspections and certification
* Managing sub-contractors to ensure timely completion and high standards
* Meeting deadlines, resourcing staffing needs, and conducting routine inspections
* Liaising with Local Authority Inspectors for key stage inspections
* Inspecting all stages under construction to identify and rectify defects
* Ensuring materials are stored securely and advising on material shortages or excesses
* Completing daily and weekly reports in the Site Manager's absence
This role requires:
* Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager on housing developments
* Knowledge of building and health and safety legislation
* SSSTS or SMSTS, First Aid, CSCS card, and NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Construction
* Effective time management to meet deadlines
* IT literacy
