We are working exclusively with a prominent player in the rail rolling stock industry who are looking for a Rail Resource Planner.
They specialise in the movement, testing and storage of stock for rolling stock and train operating companies, as well as locomotive spot hire services and the operation of charter trains.
They have pioneered and own the UK’s most advanced locomotive fleet, currently being delivered and tested for this first in class locomotive in the UK.
The Rail Resource Planner will assist the Train Planning & Resources Manager in delivering corporate objectives and contribute to the success of the overall Train Planning, Performance and Control processes.
We are therefore looking for a highly self-motivated individual, highly intelligent with the ability to think analytically. A strategic thinker, with the ability to influence other teams in order to gain trust and openness in terms of data-sharing.
Full training will be given and therefore approach of the individual to learn and express that learning is key. Training in systems to be utilised will also be given.
The Rail Resource Planner should have solid knowledge of rail operations and the wider rail industry.
What you’ll be doing:
1. The Planner is the nominated lead for all performance related matters and initiatives
2. Manage and measure the financial element of the Performance Regime within the Track Access Agreement
3. Ensure claims for Service Variation and Cancellations are submitted in a timely manner
4. Identify, resolve and sign-off Trust Delay Attribution in a timely manner
5. Regular liaison with Network Rail, Commercial Managers and other stakeholders in order to continually improve the product deliverables
6. Undertake the timely request for Network Rail NRSC certificate renewal
7. Obtain gauging quotations as required on behalf of Commercial for new routes
8. Develop Short-Term (STP) train plans as required which make best use of Rail Operations Group resources
9. Assist the delivery of the weekly rostering process ensuring staff rosters are compliant with Operational staff terms and conditions, particularly regarding driving times and rest periods.
