The Operational Support Team provides business support to a diverse range of service areas including Parks, Sport, Harbour Authority & Leisure.
As a Corporate Apprentice you will learn to provide a high-quality service to internal customers and members of the public. You will develop general office administration skills including: responding to enquiries from customers accurately, drafting letters, taking records of meetings, undertaking basic numerical tasks e.g. assisting with counting money and banking income, assisting with bookings, undertaking general ICT work using Microsoft Applications and other systems.
As a Corporate Apprentice you will be supported in the workplace to develop the skills you need to make an effective contribution to our Service. You will be provided with a range of workplace activities and experiences, as directed by the manager, and will undertake a range of duties and learning opportunities including, but not limited to, those listed below, whilst also undertaking and completing a relevant Apprenticeship qualification.
1. To become competent in the following activities by the end of the apprenticeship period.
• Use of SAP to place orders, deal with enquiries and to raise journal entries across Parks, Sport, Harbour Authority & Leisure & Landscape Design.
• Assisting with all aspects of correspondence coming into the Parks and Harbour Authority shared inboxes
• Assisting with the public enquiries in person and over the telephone
• Assisting with administration related to allotment tenancy applications/ terminations across our 28 allotment sites.
• Assisting with booking enquiries in relation to Sailing Centre & Flat Holm Island
• Assisting with Administrative/Reception Duties
• Assisting with the processing of utility payments
• Assisting with banking and reconciliation of payments and payments by card
• Assisting with booking meetings and recording minutes
• Assisting with Reception duties including receiving deliveries, greeting visitors, monitoring CCTV and access to from the Secure Port Area and Cardiff Barrage.
2. To develop transferrable workplace skills e.g.
• To be proactive, adaptable and responsive to change
• To assist with the provision of a high-quality service – this may include developing homeworking skills for some roles
• To support internal and external customer requests and ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
• To communicate with a range of internal and/or external customers as required
• To assist other team members in the carrying out of their duties
• To work with others to carry out duties linked to the section in which the Apprentice is placed
• To undertake and complete all training and development experiences as required.
• To participate in Corporate Scheme events

5. Although you will be provided with a base, you will be required to work from various locations in accordance with the needs of the role.
