Job Description
Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Bristol
Onsite: 4-5 days per week
The Opportunity:
Europe’s leading integrated Defence Company is searching for a Real-Time Embedded Software Engineer with the skills and mindset to push boundaries. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, testing, and implementing seeker software embedded in next-generation missile systems.
The Role:
You won’t just be another engineer — you'll be a key player in an agile, multi-disciplinary team (hardware, software, firmware), working side-by-side to drive the entire SDLC of complex, real-time software embedded in missile sub-components. Your expertise will shape the architecture, influence design, and ensure rigorous testing and verification.
But it’s not just about theory. You’ll have the chance to get hands-on with missile components, and testing equipment, and see your work come to life in a real lab environment. This is where engineering meets impact. Are you ready to make a difference?

• Security Clearance: Must be a British citizen or dual UK national, eligible or already holding SC Clearance.
• Real-Time Embedded Expertise: Demonstrated experience in developing hard real-time embedded software.
• C Programming Mastery: Strong proficiency in ‘C’ with a deep understanding of its application in real-time systems.
• Communication Protocols: Solid knowledge of protocols like SPI, UART, Ethernet, and PCI-Express.
• Design Methodologies: Familiarity with software design practices such as UML.
• Analytical Mindset: Ability to assess system performance and ensure seamless integration.
• Full SDLC Experience: Hands-on experience across the full software development life cycle.
Benefits Package:
• Base salary: £45,000-£70,000 (DoE)
• Annual Bonus: Circa £2,500
