Job Title: Projects Manager
Responsible to: Head of Project Management
Reporting positions: N/A
Location: Rotherham
Shift Pattern: Days (8.30 – 5.00 Monday – Thursday and 8.30 – 4.30 Friday)
Main Areas of Responsibility
* Assist the Head of Project Management to ensure all projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
* Offer advice to Senior Management regarding investment requirements or opportunities based on prevailing site conditions and current market situations.
* Take ownership of specific projects from design to completion, including any Construction, Design and Management (CDM) implications.
* Determine and define the project scope and objectives (quality) and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project(s).
* Determine and define the project schedule (when and in what order).
* Determine and define project budget and costs, helping to prepare any capital request followed by monitoring throughout the project.
* Identify and define the risks associated with the project (impact on the business, other departments, and stakeholders).
* Determine and define the resources likely to be required, both in-house and external.
* Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan (Gantt chart).
* Keep accurate records of progress and attendance of all contractors.
* Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
* Utilise industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout project execution.
* Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement during the project.
* Carry out detailed feasibility studies to determine if a project is appropriate and could be successful.
* Assess any capital request for suitability.
* Carry out assessments on potential suppliers or equipment.
* Assist in developing all project plans and in the development of Gantt charts.
* Consider how Engineering can be included into any project for training or improved maintenance provisions.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with key suppliers.
* Develop and maintain good communication with internal customers.
* Organise and manage project meetings.
* Identify suitable suppliers for projects to maintain healthy competition.
* Ensure contractors adhere to their RAMS and any signing In/Out procedures.
* Accept RAMS and issue Permit to Work as appropriate.
Person Specification
* Experience in Project Management.
* Willingness to undertake additional tasks.
* Proven problem-solving ability.
* Flexible working attitude including variable start and finish times.
* Team player.
* Self-motivated.
* Awareness of CDM requirements.
* Must be willing and able to travel, including UK and overseas destinations.
* Project Management qualification at HND or similar (desirable).
