Towneley Hall is recruiting two Casual Museum Assistants to assist our curatorial staff in the recording, care and handling of the Museum’s collections whilst we prepare the building for re-opening after a major renovation project.
The collections at Towneley Hall are varied and the post will involve working with collections ranging from fine & decorative art, furniture, natural history, ethnography, textiles, archaeology and social history. The post will also assist in the general day-to-day operation of Towneley Hall.
It is essential you are able to move and carry objects of varying size and weight. You must also be able to plan and organise work, contribute to a team and be competent in the use of IT. Experience of working in a museum or gallery and in the handling and documentation of museum collections is desirable.
The role is based at Towneley Hall Art Gallery & Museum which is preparing to re-open after major repair and conservation work. For anyone interested in working in a museum or gallery this post offers a great opportunity to gain experience.
The post is offered on a casual basis. It is expected this will be for a period of three months and we expect to be able to offer three days a week in that period. This will include weekend working.
For an informal discussion on the content of the job description or person specification, please contact Sally Smith, Towneley Hall Manager, on 01282 477138.
