We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
The role of Programme Administrative Assistant sits within the Academic Registry. The team provide a high-quality service to both students and academic staff and are responsible for administrative activities that relate to the full student life cycle. The role is varied with staff performing a range of tasks and duties with minimal supervision. Use of initiative is essential to identify issues and find solutions to problems, whilst ensuring agreed quality standards, guidelines and procedures are met.
Staff in the Programme Administration Team support assigned academic subject areas and develop expert knowledge relating to the programmes they take care of. The team also provide specialist administrative support for student consultative committees and other procedural meetings as required. Staff gain a detailed knowledge of SITS (the university’s student record system) through the daily work they complete.
The Academic Registry supports the effective operation of teaching across the university, working closely with academic departments as well as other central services. The department is focused on delivering a positive student experience throughout all our areas of operation.
While some parts of the service interact directly with students, others provide back-office support, focusing on reporting, process review, and systems development. The service is continually advancing integrated technological solutions across the entire student lifecycle—from admissions and initial registration to progression, award, and graduation. These developments enhance data accessibility, improve data quality and accuracy, and ensure that both staff and students have access to and ownership of their specific data.
We offer a comprehensive set of staff benefits which includes a competitive salary, 35 hour full-time working week, 33 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working in line with business need, and an excellent pension scheme with 8% employer contribution.
