The role

You will
This role is part of our Digital Asset value stream who have an ambition to unlock significant value through the deployment of Digital Innovations to help adopt prescriptive maintenance, autonomous inspections, AI-driven operations and much more as we expand our portfolio of Gas-Fired and Low Carbon power stations, Gas Storage facilities and introduce Hydrogen and Carbon Capture and Storage. As Lead Technical Specialist responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with Product Owners and lead technical colleagues within our Digital Asset value stream and across IT to assist with organising and delivering the backlog of development work relating to our Digital Asset portfolio including Digital Twins from eServ, Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS) OpenText Content Manager, Siemens Omnivise Prescriptive Maintenance suite and more.
- Encourage a culture of innovation by promoting the exploration of new technologies and processes and challenging the status-quo to enhance operational efficiency and maintenance practices.
- Conduct proof of concepts and technical assessments to ensure the chosen technologies can be effectively integrated.
- Assume technical responsibility for service transition relating to the supportability of the Digital Asset portfolio once the technology
- Work as part of the wider Thermal IT Support team providing technical support including Out of Hours (OOH) support for Priority 1 (P1) incidents.
You have
- Experience with cloud platforms for scalable and resilient solution deployment with knowledge of DevOps practices for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Knowledge of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) concepts and protocols (e.g., MQTT, OPC UA) for connecting sensors and devices with experience of edge computing and data collection from remote or hazardous areas.
- Experience deploying, scaling, and managing containerised applications within Kubernetes and developing a containerisation strategy.
- Proficiency in identifying technology gaps and driving the adoption of innovative solutions, including but not limited to AI, to address business challenges.
- Experience in integrating large systems to build a holistic Digital Solution such as Digital Twin taking real-time telemetry data feeds and linkage to EDMS.
