Create Education is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join a team in East London that works with neurodiverse young people ages 11 – 19 with complex profiles. All of the pupils have educational health and care plans, typically with a diagnosis of SEMH, ASD and associated conditions. The aim is to provide an environment where pupils can grow and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. All pupils are encouraged to find and express their creativity and are supported to achieve awards alongside the more traditional academic subjects.
As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will work predominantly as expert support whilst also providing a range of cover and teaching across the school's services, which could include:
1. Planned coverage of a class in place of their usual teacher or group coordinator
2. Planned coverage of support, in place of a Class Teaching Assistant (TA), or Additional Support TA to help regulate pupils who require one-to-one support
3. Unplanned short-term coverage of a role
4. Planned specialist teaching due to expertise in a subject
5. Supporting transition periods and external trips
6. Regular interventions for a caseload of pupils

1. Understanding of Special Educational Needs
2. Ability to work in a child-focused way
3. Ability to deliver teaching to classes based on pre-determined lesson plans as well as work with small groups of individual pupils
4. Effective communication skills
5. Outstanding listening skills
6. Ability to recognise and understand young people’s needs
7. Reflect on your own practice and always seek self-improvement
8. Good organisational skills, ability to plan, manage and prioritise workload
9. Ability to develop constructive and appropriate relationships with pupils
