Johnstonebridge Primary School is seeking to appoint a capable and enthusiastic Learning Assistant with the desired personal qualities and skills to join the staff team within the Lockerbie Academy Cluster. You will support pupils with additional support needs to overcome barriers to their learning and reach their full potential.
This position is for 25.75 hours per week to cover Maternity Leave, 39 weeks per year, and is fixed term until 3 July 2025. This post may be suitable for secondment; agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying.
The successful candidates must be educated to SCQF Level 4 (e.g., Standard Grade General, National 4) or equivalent, including Numeracy and Literacy, and have experience working with children and/or young people. A willingness to undertake training is required, along with experience working with children/young people with additional support needs.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have resided outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
