Testing Engineer (Mechanical)
We are recruiting for a Testing Engineer to join our rural client on a permanent, full-time basis. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer with a mechanical bias and preferably testing knowledge. We encourage candidates with an aptitude for engineering and interest in professional development to apply. This position will be working within a large team, and reporting to the site engineering manager, supporting with conducting trials and engineering tests on numerous innovative projects.
What you can expect:
1. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm with a 30-minute lunch break
2. Salary: Circa £33k – £40k, depending on experience
3. Location: North Herefordshire/Powys border
4. Annual leave: 20 days plus bank holidays, increasing up to 25 days after 2 years’ of service
5. Immediate start available depending on candidate availability
6. Full training provided
What you will be doing:
1. Responsible for the Inspection/examination of all equipment and material prior to any test
2. Responsible for arranging, conducting, and finalising trials
3. Produce comprehensive reports detailing results
4. Testing and processing following prescribed methods
5. Creation of technical drawings
6. Operating both CNC and manual mills, lathes and other routine workshop equipment
7. Able to adapt to changing priorities as necessary to support customers
What we are looking for:
1. Minimum of a Level 3 in Engineering, or demonstrable amount of practical engineering experience gained within current or previous employment
2. High standard of literacy, numeracy and IT
3. Resourceful and willing to learn
4. Ability to interpret technical data and compose detailed reports
5. Health & Safety training – IOSH Managing Safely
6. Experienced using CAD software
7. Ability to operate plant equipment such as telehandlers and forklifts - preferred
8. Good practical knowledge of instrumentation techniques - preferred
