About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Prospects department based at Highbury Campus. Foundation Prospects is a dedicated provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a great opportunity for the post holder to get an insight into a potential teaching career in an educational setting.
With support from the college, you shall work towards being able to deliver one-to-one or small group programmes outside the classroom. On occasions as your experience develops you may at times be given the opportunity to cover part of a lesson or to set work for classes. As part of the role, you will be required to complete the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship. You will also be required to take on a range of admin tasks for the learning area.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor and help named students and groups of students in working towards their learning and/or behaviour targets in the classroom, as directed by the Curriculum Manager in conjunction with teaching staff.
* Deliver one to one and small group programmes to students who are in need of extra support or stretch and challenge, outside the classroom, as directed by the Curriculum Manager in conjunction with teaching staff.
* Communicate concerns and news of progress to teachers and Curriculum Manager, on a regular basis, including at team meetings.
* Support students with a range of barriers to learning to access the curriculum whilst encouraging the development of independent learning skills.
* Assist in the preparation/adaptation of teaching and learning materials.
* As experience develops, deliver pre-prepared set work to whole class groups and support their work in the event of teaching staff absence.
* Administrational duties for the department.
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
* A good standard of basic education (Maths and English GCSE pass or equivalent)
* 2 to 3 A Level passes or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* A level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or willing to work towards.
