What you'll do
You will work in conjunction with our team of IoT Specialists (the ‘IoT Lab'), delivering proof-of-value agile experiments, as well as larger projects and the maintenance of the live system in the cloud.
Our small unit specialises in collecting data from our assets and providing insights, with an emphasis on prediction and fault prevention.
You will:
* Develop innovative cloud-based IoT solutions and solve technical problems relating to the IoT systems and their data.
* Lead on cloud software development and DevOps services within the business for IoT tools, including existing telemetry systems and their integration into our Azure IoT cloud solutions.
* Plan, design and conduct unit tests, correcting defects and re-testing to achieve an error-free result in conjunction with the QA team.
* Plan, design and conduct performance and usability tests to achieve solutions that deliver acceptable performance and are easy to use.
* Review technical specifications from suppliers and IT partners to ensure that expected quality is maintained by these resources.
* Lead peer reviews for your team including contractors and third parties as required to ensure high standards of solutions delivered to the business.
* Work with the Technical and Solution Architects to establish and maintain agreed standards, patterns and designs applicable to the work undertaken and to ensure that they are adhered to.
* Design, code, test and document data solutions for Wessex Water, complying with agreed techniques and standards.
* Ensure that all solution development adheres to company security standards and that there are no breaches to data security either internally or externally to minimise the risk to the company.
* Develop and progress the team members, conduct check-ins and follow all the line management tasks as outlined by the business.
What you'll need
To be considered for this excellent opportunity, you will possess sound technical expertise in Azure, DevOps and .Net development, as well as have engaging interpersonal and leadership skills.
You will have experience in a lead position within a DevOps and/or Software Development team with a highly technical skill set.
You will also have excellent team skills working in collaboration at a highly technical level with colleagues, IT partners and IT consultants, both on-site and off-site.
Your technical expertise is extremely important to us. You'll have in-depth expertise in the Azure software stack, systems integration, build and deployment automation, and full-stack .Net development.
You will have in-depth experience using the following technology stack:
* Azure Services - Azure Data Explorer, Service Bus, Functions, CosmosDB, IoT Hub, Event Hub and Storage.
* Backend - .Net core, C#, RestAPI, MVC, ASP.net, Entity Framework.
* Frontend - JavaScript and Typescript (React, Vue) as well as HTML, CSS, JSON and XML.
* Azure DevOps - CI/CD, pipelines, Bicep.
* Data querying - T-SQL, LINQ, KQL.
* IoT protocols - MQTT, OPC/ua, and others.
* Microservices.
* Docker.
* TDD, NUnit.
* SOLID, DRY, KISS.
* Security by Design and Azure Enhanced Security and Protection.
You will ideally also have:
* Knowledge of IoT architectures from devices to cloud (Devices, Gateways, Connectivity, Cloud, Analytics and Visualisation), preferably in IIoT environments.
* Experience in public cloud-based IoT infrastructure across all aspects, including performance, stability, resiliency, availability, scalability and security.
* Knowledge of Application and Cloud Infrastructure and Integration.
* An understanding of Quality Attributes (Performance, Security, Availability, Utility, Consistency, Durable, Reliable, Efficiency, Modifiable, Portable, Reusable, Measurable, Auditable, Testable, etc).
* An understanding of the complete Software and data lifecycles.
* A good experience and understanding of Agile methodologies.
* Strong communication skills.
* The ability to work effectively within a team environment as well as independently.
