Extrusion Shift Leader
Due to continued expansion, we're recruiting an experienced Extrusion Shift Leader to join our well-established client.
Purpose of position:
To provide leadership, management, motivation & development of operational employees to ensure production objectives and goals are delivered. Control the day-to-day operations within the department according to instructions from Department Manager to maximize the most efficient use of Employees, Machinery, and Materials to deliver daily schedule & improvement targets.
Duties:
1. Monitoring safety, quality, and production versus agreed target, implementing corrective actions as required.
2. Drive a daily culture of continuous improvement by utilizing lean principles to deliver operational cost reductions within a lean manufacturing environment.
3. Prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure productivity, quality & improvement targets are met in accordance with set KPI's.
4. Lead & participate in projects to success via SMART objectives and develop & maintain visual management systems in line with visual factory.
5. Identify skills gaps and coordinate cross-training to maximize the versatility of the team.
6. Ensure all work practices are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with Health and Safety Guidelines / Risk Assessments.
7. Carry out RCCA investigations into any Quality/Process/Safety Issues.
8. Develop line side Gemba walks engaging with operators to understand any problems, then working with other departments as needed to resolve issues.
9. Liaise with relevant personnel for smooth new product introduction and assist with process development.
10. Responsible for the corrective actions for all Employees in your Team with the authority to implement disciplinary procedures up to First Written Warning level.
11. Ensure the Team are fully briefed regarding operational performance and ongoing improvement plans.
12. Ensure clear communications to and from the shift Employees at all times.
13. Delivering KPI's, monitoring schedule adherence and controlling what is within your influence; run rates, changeover times etc.
14. Identifying productivity savings delivering year on year unit cost reduction, controlling consumable spend and managing overtime costs.
15. Perform any other duties as directed by the Production Manager.
16. Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all, engaging the shift in the reporting of See it sort it report it and closing out actions, ensuring team leaders are delivering on housekeeping standards.
Requirements:
1. Possesses the ability to lead and motivate a team of individuals.
2. Demonstrate working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
3. Working knowledge of manpower management systems within a manufacturing environment is essential.
4. A self-motivated individual with the flexibility to adapt and a willingness to develop new skills.
5. Excellent time management skills.
6. 5 years demonstrable experience in a similar manufacturing environment. Must demonstrate team leadership and development, problem analysis, problem solving and process improvement skills.
7. Minimum of IOSH managing safely.
8. Ability to work flexibly, with the needs of the business.
9. Must have experience in change management.
10. Leadership and Management qualification.
11. Experience in dealing with broad HR issues.
12. Ability to conduct effective employee appraisals setting agreed achievable objectives in line with departmental KPI's.
13. Have the ability to conduct accident investigation to root cause and implement CAPA.
Salary: £48,246 Per Annum.
Working hours: 7am - 7pm, 4 on / 4 off.
This is a 6 month FTC.
