Are you an aspiring leader with a passion for Science and a commitment to developing middle leadership talent?
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual for a Middle Leader Development role in Science, initially covering a maternity leave as Co-Head of Science. This exciting opportunity will allow you to lead the department alongside the current Second in Charge, with the shared responsibility of maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
About the Role: In the first phase, you will be directly involved in the leadership of the Science department as Co-Head of Science, working closely with the current 2i/c to provide support, guidance, and leadership in the day-to-day running of the department. Once the maternity cover concludes, this role will transition into a broader Middle Leader Development role, giving you the chance to expand your leadership experience by developing other areas of middle leadership across the school.
Why Join Us? This role offers a unique pathway for career development, with a clear focus on leadership growth. You will be part of a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative school community, and benefit from a wealth of professional development opportunities both within and beyond the Science department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the Science department during the maternity leave cover period, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement across all Key Stages.
2. Collaborate with the Second in Charge and senior leadership to maintain and further develop the curriculum and teaching strategies.
3. After the maternity cover, transition into a broader leadership development role, working to develop middle leadership skills across the school and contributing to strategic initiatives.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Passion for Science education and leadership.
2. Strong commitment to developing both yourself and others as part of a middle leadership team.
3. Experience in or a clear aspiration to take on leadership responsibilities in education.
If you are looking for an exciting and rewarding opportunity to enhance your leadership skills, make a tangible difference to students’ lives, and prepare for future leadership roles, we would love to hear from you!
