Overview:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the post holder will be required to maximise cash collections and deliver reduced debtor days; ensuring income is maximised and bad debtors are minimised by implementing and managing credit controller procedures.
Responsible for controlling the aged debtor report, phoning and contacting customers to collect overdue monies, creating and controlling daily KPIs, and maintaining the sales ledger. In addition, you will help with some accounts work including balance sheet account reconciliation, supporting the business in monitoring costs against budget, and assisting in project work and ad-hoc requests.
You will have a close eye for detail as accuracy is critical. It is also vital that you have previous experience in Credit Control. Knowledge of Microsoft and Accounting applications is important, and any use of external Credit Databases would be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
1. Monitor customer orders and any outstanding amounts owed against bad debtors list.
2. Actively pursue outstanding invoices for payment.
3. Monitor the flow of invoices, credit notes, and statements to expedite payment.
4. Liaise with other departments to rectify customer complaints that are preventing payment of invoices.
5. Escalate bad debts to Senior Management when appropriate.
6. Take up trade and bank references, recording Credit Checks on new and existing Customers.
7. Report on bad debtors as required.
8. Process Direct Debit collections, Credit Card Payments, and Cashiering/Banking/posting incoming BACS payments and DD claims.
9. Resolve solutions for customers who are experiencing financial difficulties.
10. Minimise exposure to bad debt risk.
11. Set up new customers on the internal accounting software, post credit checks.
12. Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports for all levels of the business including bad debts position, current overdues, and risk monitoring.
13. Meet with the sales teams to discuss debts and devise a plan.
14. Maintain good customer relationships.
15. Follow the court process for bad debts, from initial filing through to preparing documents for the hearing and liaising with our collection agent on cases.
16. General office administration.
Skills and Experience:
1. Experience as a Collections Adviser, Credit Controller, or similar.
2. Strong communication skills and a passion for great customer service.
3. Excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft Excel and Accounting software.
4. Excellent communication and numerical skills; someone who enjoys working on the phone and has the ability to work alone and take initiative when making independent decisions.
5. The ability to work in a methodical and organised structure.
6. Extremely reliable, self-motivated, highly organised with a 'can do' attitude.

Hours of work/Remuneration:
1. Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
