Here at Northumbria Primary Care Network, in collaboration with Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust, we are delighted to advertise a full-time Band 7 Mental Health Practitioner role to join our warm and welcoming team.
You will be working within a team of mental health practitioners covering a range of GP Practices across Northumberland. You will have a couple of nominated practices that you work into regularly and be part of a wider team of practitioners that cover the Northumberland locality. Your base will likely be at Northumbria Way, Cramlington.
In line with Community Mental Health Transformation, we are forming stronger links with other primary care agencies, secondary care, and voluntary organizations, to establish a multi-agency approach to providing mental health care and treatment across the area in neighborhood teams. This will ensure that people with mental health needs receive the right treatment, at the right time, by the right people.

Main Duties of the Job
As a Mental Health Practitioner working in primary care, you'll work autonomously within the GP practices offering initial mental health consultation, assessment, formulation, signposting, and onward referrals, as well as providing brief interventions suited to patients in primary care.
You'll work as a member of the NPC Northumberland PCN team at the forefront of developing an innovative approach to mental health in primary care. You'll have excellent interpersonal skills, be committed to delivering excellent patient care, and have extensive experience of working in a range of mental health services. You'll be supported by the practice teams that you work alongside daily, as well as having regular opportunities for formal supervision and peer support with other mental health practitioners working across the PCN and county.

You will be supported within the practices as well as having supervision and line management with Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust's clinical manager for primary care.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
* Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist.
* Proven track record of post-registration training and clinical experience/psychological interventions relevant to the post.
* Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in evidence-based psychological therapies relevant to Pathway.
Knowledge and Experience
* Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, standards, and other local and national initiatives.
* Experience of working within community settings.
* Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
* Experience of working in primary care.
Skills and Competencies
* Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
* Experience of Risk Assessment and Risk Management/Safety Planning skills.
* Demonstrate an understanding and have experience of delivering effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence-based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance.
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
* Clinical Leadership experience.
* Understanding of community transformation.
* Teaching/Presentation skills.
