Description The Service & Team: The Communication Support Team is a small friendly team working in schools and settings across Cornwall. We comprise Speech and Language Therapists, Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and Advisory Teachers. We are part of the wider SEND Support Services and work closely with colleagues to provide training and support on a wide range of general SEND issues such as the Graduated Response and EHC Needs Assessments. We value and support a wide range of continued professional development both within and outside of the county. The Role: The role holder will work as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant across school and settings, mainly in the West and sometimes the Mid Cornwall area. They will focus on supporting children and young people with hearing loss/Deafness under the direction of a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. This can include delivering Interventions with individual learners and providing coaching for members of staff in the setting. High quality written reports and record keeping are an integral part of the role. You will develop close working relationships with colleagues from the Hearing Support Team team and Communication Support Team. You will be responsible for managing your own diary and working independently under the direction of a Highly Specialist SALT. Children and young people will always be at the heart of everything you do. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: This role is 0.4 FTE over two days. What you’ll need to succeed: You will have a passion for SEND, particularly hearing loss/ Deafness. You will enjoy working with children and young people in educational settings supporting their speech, language and communication. You will work well as part of a team as well as independently. You will have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
