Role Specific Accountabilities: - Supervise Inspection team, comprising of bench Inspectors, CMM programmers and apprentices or work experience students. - Monitor and report on throughput through your department, in line with set targets. - Review resource requirements within department and communicate and concerns immediately to Head of Quality - Make informed decisions on a day to day basis within your area within the boundaries of your accountability. - Disseminate information within your Inspection Team on a regular basis. - Liaise with the wider business to establish workload and priority requirements whilst responding to changing requirements efficiently and effectively to ensure 100% on-time delivery. - Review and subsequently report weekly on the output and efficiency of all areas and personnel under your control. - Initiate improvements/amendments to documentation used within department as required. - Review and identify needs of the Inspection area with regards to metrology and gauging needs. - Ensure the accurate completion of all records during the Inspection process. - Undertake other related duties as required such deputizing for other department members during absences. - Champion your teams understanding of the principles of measurement, accuracy and consistency of measurement. - Develop and maintain a multi-skilled workforce capable of responding to business needs and customer requirements, efficiently & effectively. - Maintain positive relationships with customers through prompt attention to build shortages or FIFO principles. - Develop and actively encourage a “team culture” within the other Inspection areas. - Co-ordinate, monitor and report on the performance of Inspection personnel on meeting annual performance targets. - Accountable for the stock control of the supplier quarantine area’s and report daily if required to highlight any non-conformities in stock value or accuracy. - Able to Inspect engine parts ensure they comply with the re-use drawing specification. - Examine the finish of all products to detect faulty finishing, damage, burrs or deterioration of surfaces etc. Knowledge, skills and experience required: Essential - Previous Inspection experience within a low volume high value precision Inspection environment. - Previous demonstrated leadership skills. - Good understanding SAP or similar ERP systems. - Experience of using serial number tracking systems. - Able to have structured approach to problem solving. - Able to operate and program coordinate measuring machines. - Capable of using standard Inspection equipment and able to read engineering drawings. Desirable - Some operating knowledge of Romer laser arm and Polyworks software. - Some operating knowledge of X-ray and CT Inspection techniques. - Basic understanding of CATIA.
