Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Sustainability Risk Management and Framework Manager.
Group Reputational & Sustainability Risk (GRSR) is focused on managing those risks across the Group in support of the Group Chief Risk & Compliance Officer. The risk management challenges and opportunities presented by our reputational and sustainability agenda specific to ESG are emerging, evolving rapidly and likely to only increase in scope and scale. The Group Reputational & Sustainability Risk team plays a vital part in enabling the Bank to meet its Sustainability commitments in the right manner, which is a core element of the Bank’s strategy.
The team functions at a global level, undertaking consistent and efficient identification, assessment, and management of reputational and sustainability risks. This specific role will line directly into the Global Head of Sustainability Risk Management and Framework, focusing on, but not exclusively; ESG Commitments Oversight and Standards and Sustainability Risk Management Framework Embedding.
In this role, you will:
* Support in the identification, mitigation, and management sustainability risks across HSBC.
* Incorporate Sustainability Risk within HSBC’s Risk Management Framework, ensuring this is embedded throughout both 1LOD and 2LOD.
* Enhance our Risk Management systems to ensure Sustainability Risk can be captured.
* Tracking and ensuring delivery of GRSR ESG specific change items, governance and audit actions as required.
* Undertake strategic analysis, as required, on emerging issues that could create a risk for HSBC and develop mitigation plans, including input to development of relevant principles or policies.
* The role holder will drive the evolving Environmental, Social and Governance Risk agenda, working with other stakeholders in the development of, and execution of, activities aligned with the identification and mitigation of relevant risks relating to HSBC’s activities and portfolios.
* The nature of the role requires stewardship expertise and working closely with a broad set of key internal stakeholders at all levels across the Group.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
* A comprehensive and proven understanding of reputational & sustainability risk specific to ESG, based on significant experience.
* Strong analytical skills to grasp, consolidate and distil diverse and complex sources and ranges of information.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills to articulate often complex, controversial, and subjective issues to a wide range of stakeholders.
* Proven understanding and experience of working with / leading key projects across 1LOD and 2LOD.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with proven experience in dealing across Risk Function, Transformation and Business lines.
* The ability to effectively manage multiple workstreams and deliverables, working with and reporting to Senior Management.
* High degree of gravitas, credibility, and strong interpersonal skills – ability to represent GRSR across HSBC and with key investors, regulators, NGOs and other third parties.
The base location for this role can be Birmingham, Edinburgh, Sheffield or Chester.
