Position Title: Field Operations Technician (T3)

Role
Install, provision, test, troubleshoot, splice, and maintain high-speed fiber optic transmission equipment and telecommunications circuits supporting service delivery. Perform and assist with the maintenance and configuration of all core technologies deployed.
Responsibilities
* Install, Turn–up, Test and Provision SONET, WDM, and Ethernet equipment in an optical fiber network adhering to engineered design.
* Conduct and validate all testing of network equipment to ensure adherence to all Crown Castle Fiber procedures and equipment manufacturer’s specifications.
* Work with the Network Operations Center for final acceptance and testing of all newly installed equipment and rings.
* Work with Fiber Optic, SONET, Ethernet, and SDH related test equipment including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, BER Test Sets, Sniffers.
* Perform site surveys of remote locations to ensure quality installation of all racks, equipment power plants, fiber cables, etc.
* Label and tag all equipment and cabling according to Network Engineering Diagrams.
* Perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems/issues while assisting the NOC/customer.
* Participate in on-call rotation schedule for nights and weekends.
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
* Perform both hardware and software updates and/or changes to remote site equipment as necessary.
* Complete and maintain electronic records of work completed on various assignments.
* Interface with customers and carriers in support of service delivery and assurance.
* Work independently for extended periods of time.
* Respond to Customer Troubles on a 24-hour basis.
* Work closely with the NOC, Sales, Engineering, and customers.
Education/Certifications
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
* Valid Driver’s license required.
* Two (2)+ years of experience performing installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.
* Working knowledge of SONET networks and hardware, WDM networks and hardware, Ethernet – 10/100/1000BaseT networks and hardware.
* Testing and delivering high-speed telecommunications services.
* Operating a variety of telecommunications test equipment.

Organizational Relationship
Reports to: Manager Field Operations
Working Conditions
Works in the Public right of way, exposure to extreme weather, radio frequency, and general public. Physical demands of lifting up to 75 pounds, stooping, and climbing ladders. Available to work after hours, weekends, Holidays, and On-Call Duty as conditions require.
May be required to travel and be away from home location for extended periods of time.
Additional information:
Works in the field with exposure to RF emissions, construction materials, noise, and wastes. Physical demands of lifting, stooping, standing for extended periods, getting in/out of miscellaneous equipment, and climbing ladders in adverse weather and heat.
A Valid driver’s license is a bona fide job requirement to drive and operate a Crown Castle vehicle in this position. Subject to local and state eligibility, a pre-employment background check with MVR will be conducted to evaluate a candidate’s safety record and eligibility to drive for a job.
