The Role
The post holder will be a Registered Nurse who, in conjunction with the Clinical Manager, contributes to and delivers a comprehensive Primary Care Service in partnership with Mental Health and Addiction practitioners as part of an extensive multidisciplinary team within the unique setting of a prison environment.
The post holder, as part of the primary healthcare nursing service, will contribute to the delivery of the highest quality health care and will be responsible and accountable for providing skilled nursing interventions as appropriate. The post holder will ensure a person-centred approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy.
The post holder is expected to provide assessment, evaluation, and delivery of a range of interventions that best manage prisoner healthcare needs (i.e., providing emergency and anticipatory care, promoting well-being, and addressing health inequalities) and to contribute to the continuous development of Healthcare Services.
What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* Undertake Pamova Level 1 and Scottish Prison Service (SPS) training e.g., Talk to Me; Personal Protection, key and radio training
* Demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
* Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Working knowledge of basic information technologies
* Ability to treat prisoners in custody with respect and dignity at all times even under conditions of duress
It would be great if you also have
* Evidence of continuing professional development and a professional portfolio e.g., post registration certificate, diploma degree
* Health care training in anaphylaxis, resuscitation, manual handling, and lifting
* Previous experience in a relevant clinical setting working in the fields of Primary Care, A&E, substance misuse, or within a secure environment
* Awareness of pertinent health-related policy and work with the healthcare team to consider the impact and strategies for implementation
* High awareness towards security and procedures
* Aware of Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act, 2003

Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Health Centre within HMP Shotts. The working pattern for this role will be confirmed by the hiring manager.
