The Head of Clinical Pharmacy Services will provide professional and strategic leadership on clinical pharmacy services, medicines optimisation and medicine safety. They will be responsible for the management, co-ordination and development of clinical pharmacy services throughout the trust.
The post holder will provide strong personal and professional leadership across all professional disciplines within pharmacy. As part of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team, will deputise for the Head of Operational Pharmacy Services (HOPS) and the Chief Pharmacist (CP).
Main duties of the Head of Clinical Pharmacy Services are:
1. Lead a team of pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy staff, providing professional and strategic direction.
2. Oversee and optimise clinical pharmacy services across the Trust, ensuring safe, effective and efficient practices.
3. Accountability for clinical governance within pharmacy, with specific attention to the safe, effective and cost-effective use of medicines.
4. Accountability for all medicines policies across the Trust.
5. Oversee all clinical pharmacy audits and research, ensuring alignment with best practice.
6. Drive service improvements, including enhanced ward presence and innovative approaches within clinical pharmacy.
7. Lead on medicines management strategy, interpreting legal/national guidelines and establishing compliant policies.
8. Serve as clinical lead for major incidents and business continuity incidents in pharmacy.
9. Act as deputy for CP and the HOPS in managing pharmacy services.
10. Participatein either the Pharmacy or Silver on-call rota.
