Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Activity Worker working within female Acute Inpatient Services. The post is based at Oleaster Centre - Melissa Suite. The successful candidate will provide a range of social/recreational/leisure activities for individual and groups of service users who experience mental health difficulties. You will work very closely with the Occupational Therapy team and have the opportunity to contribute to assessments and interventions, through community activities and social interaction. You will be expected to facilitate and participate in planned and ad hoc group work and individual activities with service users, in addition to this you will be required to motivate and negotiate with service users who may be unwilling to participate in activity and to promote the benefits and outcomes that participation could generate, i.e. social interaction, well-being and independence. Main duties of the job Successful candidates will need to demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk and apply this in practice and to undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service. You will be required to work full time on a 9-5 basis which will primarily be Monday to Friday but could incorporate weekend working. The posts require enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals, with caring, professional and empathetic approaches towards people suffering from mental illness. The successful applicants will be able to work as part of a large multi disciplinary team and be able to respond to working under pressure to meet deadlines.
